Resetting Assignment Takes
For Admins / Instructors
You can reset a user’s takes by following these steps:
- Open the assignment in your Admin or Instructor view.
- Locate the student’s submission under In Progress by User.
- Select Reset User Takes.
This restores the student’s available recording attempts for the applicable questions. It clears the recording attempts for those questions but does not erase the student’s overall progress, saved answers, existing videos, or other completed parts of the assignment. The student can then record new answers and overwrite previous ones.
If the assignment has already been submitted, select Unsubmit from the student’s submission before the student rerecords and resubmits. Unsubmitting returns the assignment to In Progress and deletes the existing videos and assignment progress, so the student must record and submit new responses from the beginning.
Note: It is up to the instructor to decide whether or not to allow additional takes. Chat Support may reset takes only in the event of a verified technical issue (such as a failed upload or system error).
For Students / End Users
You cannot reset or unsubmit assignments yourself. If you have reached your take limit and need another attempt:
- Contact your instructor or admin to request a reset.
- Explain why you need additional takes (for example, a technical issue or a redo request).
- Contact Big Interview Support if you experience a technical issue with your recording, upload, or assignment.
- Before re-recording after a technical issue, use a practice video to check your camera and internet connection. Avoid VPNs or security firewalls while accessing the assignment; if needed, use an incognito window.
- For Practice (non-assignment) recordings, you can re-record freely or delete older takes from My Videos.
